The work consisted of providing all labor, maintenance of traffic schemes, materials, equipment and incidentals necessary for the widening, surfacing, and reconstruction of State Road 874 from North of Southwest 117th Avenue to South of Kendall Drive and the roadway and bridge improvements to the Killian Parkway Interchange in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
Five bridges were widening consisting of either prestressed concrete beams or structural steel plate girders. A new traffic movement was added to the exit ramp to Killian from Southbound SR 874. The project incorporated as a bid alternative the first transparent sound barrier walls used in Florida. Condotte also developed an alternate traffic control plan which minimized the duration of the construction impacts to the traveling public while also improving construction safety. Scope also included new aesthetic sign structures, lighting, guardrail and ITS.
In true partnership with the client, Condotte achieved two interim milestones that were added to the project. The first was to adjust and accelerate phases of work to accommodate at no cost to the owner, a “Go-Live” implementation date of the All Electronic Tolling system under a separate follow-on contract. An interim bonus milestone was achieved for the early opening of the new Ramp F traffic movement.
