SR-836 Auxillary Lanes at 57th Ave (Miami, FL)

This contract required the construction of an auxiliary lane on the Westbound SR 836 “Dolphin Expressway” from NW 57th Ave. to a point just east of the SR 826 “Palmetto Expressway”. The project included building a two-lane bridge adjacent to the existing westbound bridge, three MSE Walls, a soil stabilization system which included mini piles and geogrid, 48” storm drainage, milling and resurfacing, thermoplastic, Type V Prestressed Beams, & 30î prestressed piles. Due to the confined area, one of the challenges on this project was to build the bridge between the two canals and the two existing railroad tracks requiring monitoring by and coordination with the South Florida Water Management District and the CSX Transportation Network.
