Construction Project Manager for a heavy/civil project located in South Florida.



Job Description:

Job Summary: The Project Manager bears the full responsibility to oversee the construction of a Heavy Highway & Heavy Civil project. Ensure that the construction is performed in accordance with plans & specifications and is completed in the most efficient manner according to the project duration and under budget. The Project Manager is accountable for all aspects of the project.

Job Description·

Works closely with Upper Management (VP of Engineering & VP of Construction Operations). Perform any related duties as required by Upper Management

· Selection of project personnel

· Provides overall project management guidance and oversight to superintendents, foremen, and subcontractors

· Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority

· Negotiates contracts and change orders as may be required by the project

· Estimates cost to be incurred for any change orders; accounting for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractor services and any other associated costs

· Procure materials and services from suppliers/subcontractors as required by the project

· Interprets project plans and specifications as required for customers, suppliers, or others involved in the project

· Ensure that construction crews are provided with a safe work environment and that they comply with all OSHA regulations and company safety policies

· Responsible and accountable for the safety of all co-workers and subcontractors

· Authorized and obligated to stop work whenever any task or series of tasks are observed or anticipated to be unsafe. This holds true for both self-performed or subcontracted work

· Participates in Health, Safety & Environmental meetings and company initiatives

· Directs and coordinates activities of the project personnel to ensure the project progresses on schedule and within the prescribed budget

· Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required

· Prepares project reports for management, client, and/or others

· Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems

· Assist Project Engineer with the preparation and submittal of monthly project financial data (P&L Reports)

· Present to Upper Management project financial data (P&L Reports)

Job Requirements

· B.S. in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ experience or 20 years of supervisory experience in the industry

· Professional Engineering license desired but not required

· Prior management experience of project personnel

· Proven experience in managing FDOT projects in the $10 - $100M range

· Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, specifications, standards, etc. plus an in-depth understanding of the interdependence and relationship between other functional units required (i.e. Owner/inspection/government agencies/designers/subcontractors/vendors/crews etc.)

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to interface well with employees at all levels of the organization

· Possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and/or stressful situations

· Proficiency with Excel, Word, Primavera 6

· The Project Manager must be capable of walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, and normally involves getting on work platforms of varying heights and access parameters

· OSHA 30 certification
